Elsie Gilmour Bogert was a lifelong resident of Leonia. She grew up at 144 Broad Avenue. She attended Leonia schools and was salutatorian of her graduating class at age 16. In 1933, Elsie and Frank W. Bogert, from Englewood, were married in the Leonia Methodist Church. In 1935, they bought the house at 315 Sylvan Avenue where they raised five children.
Elsie was president of the League of Women Voters, a member of the Women’s Club, and active in the Committee to Save Highwood Hills.
Frank served on the Town Council in the capacity of Fire Commissioner, and he was the town tax assessor for many years. He was Treasurer of the Leonia Methodist Church and was also an usher. He was the Chief Operations Officer of Citizens National Bank. Frank was also a proud member of the Lions Club.
